Summer Small Plates

top

Dinner at DebS is bringing back a School Woods favorite:

Summer Small Plates Buffets

Buffet spreads of small dishes – more than snacks, easily a light dinner, featuring seasonal ingredients. There’ll be hot, cold, and crunchy choices, with plenty for both vegetarians and carnivores. And always something sweet.

Strictly B.Y.O.B – We’ll provide the mixers for a cocktail designed to complement the evening’s foods, and make wine suggestions.

Kids welcome!

Served 5:30 – 7:30 on Fridays. The first Buffet will be Friday July 25th – and we’ll try to fit in one or two more in August.

Menu for Buffet #1:

Corn salad – fresh corn sliced off the cob, and tossed with summery ingredients

Tartines – a selection of open face sandwiches: Topped with zucchini “butter” (grated zucchini cooked down gently in olive oil until it’s a delicious spread); honey goat cheese; tomatoes; salami, pickled peppers …

Vegetable platter with hummus and a few pita triangles

Brownies & Blondies & Butterscotch brownies

Platter of summer fruits – berries, melon, whatever’s at its best

Suggested beverages: Aperol or sparkling wine spritzers – you bring the wine, we’ll have ice, glasses, club soda, oranges and lemons, and fruit syrups

If you’d like to come for the buffet, please sign up using this form (also under Contact Us, above). The deadline to sign up online is Wednesday July 23 at 5:00 PM. If you miss the deadline or have any other questions, please contact your host, Deb at 608-712-6368, or ds83473@gmail.com

Mother’s Day High Tea

Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 4:00 – 6:30 PM

Brunch, schmunch.

This year, treat Mom – and yourself – to High Tea. A luxurious, late afternoon repast, featuring cakes & other baked goods, small sandwiches, and tea.

Bring your own alcoholic beverages if you wish – a little Prosecco would be non-traditional, but never the less, very nice, with this menu.

  • Date scones with jam and mascarpone cream
  • Tea Sandwiches: Cucumber watercress & radish with Dill butter; curried chicken; olive walnut; banana bread with honey cream cheese
  • Victoria Sponge – light yellow cake with strawberry jam and whipped cream
  • Warm artichoke, asparagus & goat cheese dip with crackers and crudités
  • A few cookies or tiny tarts or other surprises (that are likely to be chocolate in nature)
  • Strawberries and fresh pineapple
  • And of course TEA – herbal and caffeinated, hot or iced, with milk and sugar – or not

Along with our absent friends [in spirit]  tearing around Seattle on two wheels that same evening, we’ll join in celebration of “bikes, beer, numerous options, hometown favorites, past successes, future possibilities, and another opportunity for two-wheeled mayhem” – and the enjoyment of ketchup.
